Robert Deveaux

Proudly Acadian, Robert is a highly skilled Cape Breton traditional fiddler and pianist who comes from St-Joseph-du-Moine near Chéticamp.

Arthur Muise greatly influenced his style as did fiddler Donny LeBlanc with whom he frequently plays. Robert, at one time, was host fiddler at The Barn performing every Wednesday night. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from St. Francis Xavier University. He revived the fiddle and singing style of Joseph Athanase Larade and is a noted for researching Acadian songs which he sometimes shares with audiences. His recording credits include Pure Celtic Hearts Volume 2 by Cape Breton piano legend Maybelle Chisholm McQueen. He is passing the torch to his daughter, a very promising fiddler.
