Mary Beth Carty

Musical vagabond Mary Beth Carty grew up across the Causeway from Cape Breton Island in Lanark, Antigonish County. A sought-after guitar-accompanist for Celtic fiddle music, Mary Beth is also a vocalist, accordionist, and acclaimed solo artist. In 2021, Mary Beth released a Gaelic language single, Mo Mhàthair, which received airplay on the BBC, CBC, and community radio stations across Canada and the US. The song appears on her new album, Crossing the Causeway. Also a folklorist who researches old songs, Mary Beth likes to bring them back to life with the help of vintage instruments like the bones, jaw harp, and accordion. Mary Beth has been sharing traditional and original music in Gaelic, French, and English on stages throughout Canada and around the world for fifteen years. An entertainer to the bones, to be sure!
